New at Burger King Japan
The BK Ringo… a Whopper topped with a cinnamon-spiced apple slice, cheese, lettuce, mayo and a honey mustard sauce. At the bottom of the poster image you’ll find the new Double Pork BBQ Burger, which is two grilled pork cutlets topped with BK BBQ sauce, lettuce, onions and mayo. And for dessert, their new NY Sundaes, which is BK’s standard soft serve ice cream served over...

A Quick Stop in Reggio Emilia, Italy for Lunch
Took a plane to a train to another train to a car and then walked to Bar Del Carbone! Their culatta from Parma… So close you can taste it, eh? Housemade tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and cultello… A trip of tortelli; radicchio, artichoke and spinach… And of course, an espresso and limoncello to help aid in digestion…

My Birthday Dinner 2012
Ever since New York Comic Con moved from February to October, I’ve started celebrating my birthday in a much quieter way… with a small family dinner at my favorite NYC restaurant, KYOYA. Chef Sono has become a good friend, and when February 17th rolls around each year, he pulls out the big guns to help me mark the occasion. My 2012 celebration last week was no exception! We started...

Singapore Tourism Board 2012 Press Luncheon
Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to be invited by the Singapore Tourism Board to a press luncheon at the Michelin-starred restaurant Laut to help ring in the Year of the Dragon here in New York City! With a booming economy and a culture that everyone seems to be buzzing about, especially where food is concerned, members of the STB and Singapore’s Ambassador to the UN, Mr....

Best Japanese Kit Kat Yet!
Available exclusively in Kyoto, these Yatsuhashi KitKats are probably my favorite yet! Truth be told, I didn’t know what “yatsuhashi” was either, so had to google it. Turns out it’s “a Japanese confectionery, one of the best known famous regional products of Kyoto, made from glutinous rice flour, sugar and cinnamon”. And let me tell you, this cinnamony...

My Super Bowl 2012 Eats
For the last 15 years, Mutsumi and I have had the same tradition on Super Bowl Sunday… we stay home and I cook us wings and sandwiches for the big game. Here’s what this year’s menu looked like… I did something I previously considered sacrilegious in the kitchen and went ahead and baked my wings yesterday! And by adding a little flour to the mix, their skins did indeed...

Sunday Bloody Sunday
What I’ve found makes the perfect Bloody Mary… Campbell’s tomato juice Fresh horseradish Worcestershire sauce Pickle juice Aji amarillo paste Cholula hot sauce Celery salt Black pepper White pepper Japanese shiokosho And I use gin. (Yeah, not a big vodka fan.) All mixed to taste. Add ice. Garnish with celery, a pickle and olives.
