I've created Eataku as an online home for people passionately obsessed with food.

People like me.

I travel a lot. I eat a lot. I cook a lot.

As the Talent Scout for Marvel Comics, my job takes me around the world. While I do thrive on the thrill of constant travel, being on the road and away from home for extended periods of time does take its toll. So when not meeting artists or reviewing portfolios, I keep my batteries charged by exploring the culinary culture and cuisine of whatever city or country I find myself in.

Photos of food. Videos of vineyards. Reviews of restaurants. Recipes for refreshments. This site is now my way of sharing my international epicurean adventures with you.

Enjoy!

Time was quite tight today, so we had to find somewhere close to the convention center to grab a very quick lunch this afternoon. There were no chippys nearby, and we’d had kebab last night, so we decided to pop into a local pizza joint to fill our rushed bellies. I ordered my pie with sausage, but did not expect said sausage to be… English bangers?! Is this the newest iteration of British/Italian fusion?

The Blacksmith & The Toffeemaker

As I posted earlier, yesterday I walked by a cool little pub named “The Blacksmith & the Toffeemaker” and fell in love with it over the name alone. Well, today I went back to discover my love justified as the food, atmosphere, staff of the B&T are all quite amazing!

Here’s a look…

That’s Liam, the bartender, who couldn’t be cooler. Had a blast chatting with him…

Their menu…

I had the wild boar pie and greens…

(Sorry, it was so good I forgot to take a picture of the middle for you!)

Their tasty sausage roll…

With some of their surprisingly spicy English mustard…

Oh, and a couple of these for good measure…

The Blacksmith & the Toffeemaker is situated on the corner of St. John Street and Wynatt Street in Islington, open daily from noon to 2am. Yes, 2am!

And as it’s only about a ten minute walk from the Business Design Center where KAPOW is being held this weekend, it’s perfect for hungry and thirsty comic fans and late night antics! See you there.
