I've created Eataku as an online home for people passionately obsessed with food.

People like me.

I travel a lot. I eat a lot. I cook a lot.

As the Talent Scout for Marvel Comics, my job takes me around the world. While I do thrive on the thrill of constant travel, being on the road and away from home for extended periods of time does take its toll. So when not meeting artists or reviewing portfolios, I keep my batteries charged by exploring the culinary culture and cuisine of whatever city or country I find myself in.

Photos of food. Videos of vineyards. Reviews of restaurants. Recipes for refreshments. This site is now my way of sharing my international epicurean adventures with you.

Swieners, San Diego

I went over to check out the Norton Securities Avengers bus that’s stationed near Petco Park only to find it was sharing space with a food truck court! Many of the trucks were ones I’d already eaten at last year, but then, down at the far end of the lot, I noticed this sign…

As I love both sausage and raclette, a “swiener” sounded right up my alley!

But what’s a swiener, you ask? Well, allow me to explain.

First, they poke a hole in a roll…

Then they fire up the raclette cheese so it gets nice and melty…

Next, they carefully scrape that cheesy goodness into the hollowed out roll…

Lastly, they squeeze in a grilled wiener of your choice…

Bratwurst had sold out, so I went for spicy pork…

But why call them “swieners”? The back of their booth spelled it out clearly…

Swiss wiener = swiener! Ah ha!
