You know me, I can’t go to a new city and not explore their markets! In Montreal, Jean-Talon Market is the biggest, for shopping and snacking…

They specialize in beautiful, fresh, local produce…

Asparagus… only a buck?!

Hung like a… leek?

Gorgeous foraged mushrooms…

And who knew that Canadians love their hot peppers?!

They were everywhere…

All sorts of spectacular spiciness…

The seasonal produce was out in full effect as well…

Not quite sure what these are…

They grow ‘em big up North…

But enough with the raw veggies, on to the good eats…

Canadian East Coast oysters..

We tried, from left to right, Rocky Shores, Pickle Points and Green Gables. Green Gables the best by far, in our opinion…

Next up…

For their wonderful homemade Balkan sausage…

Then off for more meat…

A sausage sampler of pork & cheese, wild boar and lamb & mint. I would have brought pounds of the lamb & mint sausage home with us if there’d been a legal way to do so…

Followed that up with this bad boy… a maple glazed bison rib!

Having had our fill of meat after that rib, we decided to cleanse with a little seafood…

The deep fried variety, of course…

And a familiar face graced this outstanding seasonal pumpkin macaron…
