First meal in Portland… brianmichaelbendis took me directly from PDX to Salt & Straw! Went with a scoop of their seasonal Summer Sweet Corn Buttermilk ice cream over a scoop of the classic Sea Salt & Caramel Ribbons. Perfection!!
Given the success of their limited-edition Vanilla Ice Cream Kit Kats, Nestle Japan is now offering the flavor as bite-sized Kit Kat balls as part of their “Big Little” line.
Much better if you freeze these before eating!
Today’s Ben & Jerry’s/Ommegang Brewery collaboration was the “Dubbel Trubbel” beer float… chocolate & sweet cream ice creams with caramel clusters, fudge-covered almonds and marshmallow swirl topped with a Belgian-sytle Abbey Ale!
Also inside the Wired Cafe at the Omni Hotel, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream has teamed up with Ommegang Brewery for a pop-up that’s serving ice cream beer floats!!
Their inaugural float was the “Lazy Philosophers”, which paired Ben & Jerry’s Lazy Sunday ice cream with Ommegang’s Three Philosophers Quad Ale…

Secret Breakfast is their bourbon ice cream with corn flakes! Oolong Tea was great but a bit too sweet.
I almost went with the Brown Sugar & Fennel!
Jesus Juice was made with red wine and Coca-Cola! And the Paech Habanero was nice, but the finish was a tad too spicy to be enjoyed as ice cream for me.
Salt & Pepper actually tasted like frozen salt and pepper!
My cousin Emma over in Sweden food hazing me with this pic of a soft serve vanilla cone topped with salt licorice bits!
And acquired taste, I know, but one I love…
Cereal milk ice cream with candied corn flake crunch at Momofuku Milk Bar after the Marvel creative summit last night! Thanks, @jasonaaron!!
The original brick & mortar Big Gay Ice Cream shop was one block from Kyo Ya, my favorite Japanese restaurant in NYC, so it was a quick walk if we felt like a Salty Pimp cone after dinner. Now, BGIC has opened their third shop right next door to my other favorite Japanese joint, Hakata Tonton, on Grove St. in the West Village! And I dig the new illustrated sign they have out front…
